We've already done an internet search for you

Our internet search for a 'remembrance book' or 'book of remembrance' was rather disappointing.

The first site we found claimed to have both a remembrance book and an obituaries section.  The remembrance book had no index, so it was impossible to see how many people, if any, were listed in it.  The only way of finding out was to do a search by inserting a name, so we inserted over 50 common sounding names and each time it came up with the words 'not known'.  The terms and conditions of the site said that, to save space, entries in the remembrance book would only be listed for 3 months before being removed.  The terms and conditions of the obituaries section said that obituaries would be listed indefinitely, and we eagerly turned to the obituaries pages only to find that there weren't any.  The pages were there alright, but they were full of adverts for car sales, ebay sites and numerous other items for sale.  We spent half an hour on the site and didn't find one actual obituary. It was apparent that entries were automated, and that adverts could be inserted because nobody was checking what was being written, and the adverts were being displayed for free.

WE DETERMINED THAT OUR REMEMBRANCE BOOK WOULD HAVE

The second site we found did have a remembrance book index, but the index included names such as Pope John Paul II, Casper Weinberger, Floyd Patterson, Gene Pitney, George Harrison, John Lennon, and Diana Princess of Wales.  None of the entries had more than half a dozen lines of text, so it seemed that six lines was the maximum length.  It also appeared to us, that the entries had not been entered by friends or relatives of the people who had been listed, but had simply been entered by the webmaster.  The terms and conditions of the site stated that there was a cost for inserting an entry into the remembrance book, but that fees are only notified to you after you have registered on the site.  In order to register, you have to list your full address and phone number.

WE DETERMINED THAT OUR REMEMBRANCE BOOK WOULD HAVE

Our next internet search was for the word 'Memory Book', but this too was disappointing.

The first site we found wasn't an online site at all.  It was a physical book, and cost almost $65 for a hardcover version, and almost $50 for a soft back version.  Although the memory book could be up to 250 pages long, the above prices only included the first 20 pages.  Thereafter, there was an additional charge of $1 for every additional two pages (making a full hardcover book $180, and a full soft back book $165).

The second memory book site we found was similar to the first, but with a single quoted price of $65.  The information stated this was for a basic book, and that additional pages and services would be extra, but it didn't say how much these extras were going to be.

WE DETERMINED THAT OUR REMEMBRANCE BOOK WOULD

We also did internet searches of funeral homes, crematorium and cemeteries, and whilst many (but not all) of these sites listed the cost of a funeral or cremation, the cost of extras such as a listing in a book of remembrance or memory book were hardly ever given.  In the few instances where the price was listed, it was without exception a lot more than our administration charge.

After quite a lot of research of online remembrance books, online and physical memory books, funeral homes, crematorium and cemeteries, we determined that the remembrance book needs of bereaved people were not being met.

WE DETERMINED TO MEET THAT NEED, AND THAT OUR ONLINE BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE WOULD

We are confident that our service and pricing structure is as good as any
and far better than most.
