Q: [Why an online Book of Remembrance?]
A: [Families these days may be dispersed around the country, or even around the world, so it may not be viable for someone to visit a place of family burial.  An online Book of Remembrance provides a central location where people can come together to remember their loved ones.]

Q: [Is it just for religious people?]
A: [No. It's for everyone, religious or not.  We've been to countries where cemeteries has been split into sections, an Islamic section, a Jewish section, a Hindu section, a Christian section for example, and even where these main religions have been further sub divided.  Our Book of Remembrance is a place where religious differences can be put aside, and where individuals can be cherished, and the life they have lived celebrated.  People can have religious symbols added to a page if they want, and if they are religious we would encourage it, but equally, they don't have to.]

Q: [Why don't you have a search page?]
A: [There are several other remembrance sites on the internet, and almost all of them have a search page so you have to ask the name of the person you're looking for.  The problem with this is, when you are considering which remembrance site to use, you have no idea of how well used they are. The site may be there, but there may be only one or two people remembered on it, or worse, nobody at all. Nobody wants to be alone, especially in death.  On our site we don't want to fool you into believing we have millions of people listed on our site, or that we are larger than we are.  Of course, in due course, we do intend to be the worlds major remembrance book site, but meanwhile we have a fully visible index, and you can immediately see how many people are remembered on the site, and where they are from.]

Q: [What if my main language isn't English?]
A: [Everyone responsible for the site at present has English as their first language, but we are able to receive and publish any language on the site.  We will willingly receive info in any language, and put it on the website just as it's received.  That said, it would obviously be easier if we could read and understand the language.  In due course, we're hoping to find volunteers in non English speaking countries, and to have dedicated pages in various languages.]

Q: [What is the main difference between your Book of Remembrance and a Book of Remembrance at a cemetery or crematorium?]
A: [Most traditional Remembrance Books limit you to one or two lines, and the name of your loved one is usually only on display on the anniversary of their death.  Our Book of Remembrance allows you Basic Information, PLUS several pages of tribute PLUS their life history, PLUS Secular or religious verses, PLUS flowers, PLUS religious symbol, PLUS photograph, PLUS family tree links, PLUS links to other family members PLUS unlimited updates on birthdays or anniveraries.  You can even add a whole life history if you like. Compare our charges]

Q: [Is it free?]
A: [Yes and No!  There is an initial one-off administration charge to add a new person to the Book of Remembrance but once the person is in the book all other services will be free.  Once in the book, it will be free to add a further tribute on a birthday or anniversary, to link family members, to add a family tree, to add a hymn tune etc. It is our intention that all these additional services will always be free. Compare our administration charge.]

Q: [Many similar sites are free, but charge for extras, why don't you do that?]
A: [We think it would be unfair to suck you in with a free service, and then pester you with sales emails trying to persuade you to buy additional services.  Bereavement is hard enough without being pestered by salesmen.  Yes, there is an initial admin fee to add someone to our Book of Remembrance, but after that everything is free and we will not pester you to buy anything else.  We only usually contact people through our newsletter, and you are free to subscribe or unsubscribe from that at will.

Q: [What if I want to change or add things later?]
A: [If you make a mistake, just email us and we'll change things for you. You can also add things whenever you like, and many people add things on birthdays or anniversaries. Many people start off with a basic tribute, but later return to add a fuller tribute with the life history or family tree of the person being remembered.]

Q: [How long will it be before my tribute is displayed?]
A: [We guarantee that the information will appear in our Book of Remembrance within 21 days, but in practice most entries will appear within 48 hours.]

Q: [How long will the pages be displayed?]
A: [Subject to our terms and conditions it is our intention that the pages will be displayed without limit of time.  There may be things outside our control, such as power cuts, civil dispute, strikes etc. that may affect the display, but as far as we can we will ensure the website remains in operation without limit of time.]

Q: [Similar sites provide a log in name and password, so that only family members can make changes.  Why don't you do that?]

Sites that do that are automated, but we prefer a more personal approach.  Anyone can add an additional tribute at any time, but instead of it automatically appearing on the site, it doesn't appear until we have personally checked it.  This gives us the opportunity of filtering bogus or abusive entries.  More importantly, it allows us to correct spelling mistakes, and to display the text in a format that's more pleasing to the eye.  In short, you get a compassionate service with entries looked at by real caring people, not an automated one where entries are not checked at all.
